Ultrasonic elastic modulus measurement instrument
Function summary
Elastic modulus of materials characterizes the ability of materials against all kinds of elastic deformation. In materials research and testing, and in the process of product design, manufacture and use, elastic modulus is a physical parameter of great concern.
Thus, during the ‘tenth five-year plan’, Beijing institute of technology, with the support from COSTIND conducted the research on ultrasonic measurement technology for elastic modulus, and an Ultrasonic elastic modulus measurement system was developed. According to the inherent relationship of material elastic modulus, the sound speed in this material and the material density, the measurement system can finally calculate the material elastic modulus of materials, by exciting different modes of ultrasound and obtaining the ultrasound propagation speed in the material.
Ultrasonic elastic modulus measurement system
Ultrasonic elastic modulus measurement instrument consists of transducer and the measuring instrument based on micro-computer. The measurement instrument, with the industrial microcomputer as its core, includes ultrasonic pulse sending and receiving card, high speed data acquisition card and the elasticity modulus measurement system software based on Windows98. The instrument can achieve the functions of elasticity modulus calculation, general digital oscilloscope and data management, etc. The instrument is of complete functions and user-friendly. Using the magnetostrictive effect and its inverse effect, a magnetostrictive ultrasonic transducer is developed, and it can excite ultrasonic longitudinal wave and torsion wave respectively. The transducer is suitable for small size sample whose diameter is less than 10 mm.
The ultrasonic elastic modulus measurement instrument can be used in the laboratory or on site to measure the young's modulus and the shear modulus of the tested material. It has the advantage of wide measuring range, high precision and convenient and fast measurement.
